Karpalni kanal je prostor med zapestnimi kostmi in transverzalnim karpalnim ligamentom. Skozi karpalni kanal potekajo tetive mišic upogibalk zapestja in prstov roke ter mediani živec.

Pri sindromu karpalnega kanala gre za utesnitev/kompresijo medianega živca na področju zapestja (karpalnega kanala) zaradi povečanega pritiska znotraj kanala.
